MANSFIELD -- John Clayton Evans passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at the Isle of Watercrest in Mansfield.
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m.Tuesday at Blessing Funeral Home, Mansfield. John served during World War II with Artillery Unit 217 at Dutch Harbor, Aleutian Islands. Following retirement at Fort Bliss, John worked in civil service for 20 years. In 1992, John and Florence moved to Walnut Creek where he enjoyed playing golf. His final years were spent living at Watercrest with many friends.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Florence McRimmon Evans; son-in-law, Kenneth Burdick; brothers, Layton and Dell; and sisters, Eva and Ruth.
Survivors: Daughters, Patricia Burdick and Vicki Clarke and husband, Tom; grandsons, Jeff Burdick, wife, Heather, and Chris Burdick; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Michael Burdick; brother, Bill Evans; many nieces and nephews; and BFF, Stephanie Newton.
