John Camp, 85, of Mansfield, TX, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born September 21, 1929, in Fort Branch, Indiana, and was of the Baptist faith. After serving 22 years, John retired from the Navy with the rank of Master-Chief. He was also a retired Kentucky Teacher. For 15 years, John was the Program Director/Instructor for the Radiologic Technology Program in Madisonville, KY. In 1986, he received the Health and Personal Services Outstanding Teacher of the year award. Throughout his teaching career, he was a voluntary faculty member at Madisonville Community College and University of Kentucky committee for special exams for AAS degree articulation through UK.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Dale and Charles C. Camp, Sr.; sisters Vera Lee Leiendecker and Billie Teel; brothers Charles C. Camp, Jr. and James Robert Camp; and daughter Jonnie Darlene Camp Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah McCarraher Camp of Mansfield, TX; son Mark Camp of Chattanooga, TN; son-in-law, Ronnie Wilson of Groveport, OH; four grandchildren, Jon Camp of Nashville, TN, Brady (Alecia) Camp of Benton, KY, Cory Camp of Paducah, KY, and Scott Wilson of Groveport, OH; and several great-grandchildren.
Extended family includes brother and sister in-laws Ed and Cindy McCarraher of Greenville, KY and Jeanne (McCarraher) and Jon Reeves of Mansfield, TX; and nieces and nephews Emily (Jason) Carver, Stephanie (Chad) Mahlosky, and Kenny (Skylar) McCarraher, all of Greenville, KY, and Westin Reeves, Tyler Reeves, and Madalyn Reeves, all of Mansfield, TX.
Graveside funeral services will be Monday, September 21, 2015, at 2:00PM at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville, KY, with graveside military services. Tucker Funeral Home is in
