MANSFIELD -- John George Brinkmann, 75, a loving husband, father and grandpa, went home to heaven Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Jude Catholic Church, Mansfield. Interment: Chapel Hill Cemetery, Waco. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Blessing Funeral Home followed by a rosary.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the John G. Brinkmann Memorial Music Scholarship.
John was born Oct. 10, 1937, in Estherville, Iowa. He married the love of his life, Ruth, in 1956. John worked many professions starting as a chemist at 3M, sales director for Success Motivation Institute and finally finishing his career with his passion for music as owner of Waco Vintage Instruments music store and Mansfield Antique Mall with his wife. For the last 35 years John owned nationally known guitar shows including Texas Guitar Shows, Inc. John loved to spend time with his family, watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. He will always be remembered for his huge heart and generous nature. He leaves behind a legacy of love and will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Rose Brinkmann.
Survivors: His loving wife of 57 years, Ruth Brinkmann; children, Jacque and Robert Atkins, Jenine and Kenneth Mezzles, John and Beverly Brinkmann, Janalle and Walter Koenigs; his grandchildren, Nicholas (Laura), Shannon (Luke), Marguerite, Colton, Jocelyn, Emily, Andrew and Abigail; great-grandchildren, Harrison, Jonathan, Zacharey, Brevyn and Beau; sisters, Rae Jean Becker and husband, Richard, Rita Soucek, Patricia Hongerholt and husband, Stanley.
