MANSFIELD -- John J. "Bud" Bauer passed peacefully in his bed at the age of 86 on Wednesday morning, April 4, 2012. Service: His family will attend a small private service later this week. Bud was born in Muncie, Ind., on March 18, 1926 to Lura and John E. Bauer. He had two sisters, Margaret (who preceded him in death), Catherine, and a brother, James. He served in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant during the occupation of Japan, stationed at Sugamo Prison. Upon his return to the States, he enrolled at Ball State Teachers College in Muncie, from which he graduated with a bachelor of arts degree. He married Jane Newman Bauer, with whom he had five children. His wife, Jane, passed away Nov. 7, 1990. Bud loved to travel and lived in many places, including Indiana, Michigan, Florida, Colorado, Texas, California, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia. While in Saudi Arabia, he and Jane were able to visit many cities in Europe. Survivors: Bud is survived by his sister, Catherine Griffis of Las Vegas, Nev.; his brother, Jim Bauer and his wife, Connie, of Boca Raton, Fla.; as well as his daughters, Deborah Pearson and Theresa Tuohy, and his sons, Mike Bauer, John Bauer, D.D.S., and Tom Bauer. Bud also has 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
