Joanna Faye Read

Joanna Faye Read, 91, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 4 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Joanna was born in Marengo, Iowa on May 6 1930 to William and Margaret Spurlock. She was raised in Ottumwa, Iowa where she graduated high school. Joanna married Reginald A. Read Jr. in 1959 and spent the next 29 years in La Grange, Illinois where they raised their children. Joanna was very active in bridge club and loved to travel and garden. Upon retirement, Joanna and Reg moved to Durango, Colorado where they enjoyed their beloved mountaintop home overlooking the town. Joanna was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 58 years. Joanna is survived by her son Reginald A. Read III (Susan), her daughter Margaret Read Johnson (Keith), her six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and her daughter Julanne Mahan.
