Jerry Lynn Miles

July 17, 1943 — September 21, 2020

Jerry Lynn Miles, 77, passed away September 21, 2020 in Mansfield. Jerry was born to Jack and Alice Miles on July 17, 1943 in Houston, Texas.
Jerry grew up in Houston, Texas. Some of his fondest memories were hunting and fishing around Everman, Texas, where he attended high school, as a young man. He loved playing basketball in his high school years, and Jerry was voted the basketball king his Senior year. Jerry had other fond memories, such as spending his summers with his Uncle Pete.
While in junior high, Jerry met Gwen. He always talked about how Gwen asked him out on their first date and how he walked 5 miles every day, two times a day, to see her. That meeting and the love that was created would grow to a marriage that would last 59 years and bring them 3 loving children.
Jerry loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a lifelong member of the NRA, a member of the Bassmaster Fishing Club and The North American Hunting Club. Jerry enjoyed the outdoors even more when it involved time spent with his grandkids. Jerry took pride in his gun, knive, and arrowhead collections. Jerry’s ultimate love was his Heavenly Father and he served him faithfully as a member at Bible Baptist Church of Rendon where he served as a Deacon for many years.
Jerry’s professional life included 14 years at Horner Box company in Grand Prairie where he worked as a Machine Operator and Crew Leader.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Father-in-law J.W. Williams, Mother-in-law Faye Williams, grandson Derek Miles, great granddaughter Avonlea Mullinax, 1 grandbaby, and 4 other great grandbabies.
Jerry is survived by his wife Gwen, children Deanna Weido (husband J.D.), David Miles (wife Pam), and Tammy Houston (husband Kreig); grandchildren Joe Weido (wife Stefanie), Janine Mullinax (husband Matt), Stephanie Doty (husband Jerad), Jake Weido (wife Ariel), Ryan Miles (wife Amber), Justin Houston (wife Kayla), Jenna Smith (husband Kendall), Darren Houston (wife Tori), Colton Houston, Kailyn Smith (husband Brady), Braden Houston; as well as sister Pat Fair (husband Vernon).
