Jerry Glenn Dennis of Alvarado, Texas went home to be with his Lord Jesus on October 11, 2017 following a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.
Jerry was born on November 11, 1963 in Alvarado, where he resided until the day of his passing. He graduated from Alvarado High School in 1982, and shortly thereafter married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Karen Tallmon. They celebrated 35 years of marriage in August of 2017. Jerry began working in auto parts sales during his high school years, and continued in this career field throughout his life, most recently managing the 4M Auto Parts Warehouse in Hillsboro.
He loved fishing, sports, coaching, taking care of his lawn, and fixing most anything he set his mind to. His greatest passion, however, was always his family. Jerry was a man who could always be counted on to serve and sacrifice for those he loved. He is preceded in death by his father, Frank Dennis. He is survived by his wife, Karen; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Brandi Dennis; his daughter, Lesley Dennis; his mother, Linda Dennis; his brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Jill Dennis and their children, Bailey, Bryce, Blake, and Brooke; his sister, Susan Dennis; and his four grandchildren, Austin, Emma, Nora, and Harrison, whom he loved with all his heart.
Visitation with the family will be held in the Chapel at Retta Baptist Church in Burleson on Saturday, October 14 at 10:00 am, with a memorial service following at 11:30 am in the Worship Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a memorial fund to benefit the Down Syndrome Partnership of North Texas. Donations can be made online at
