VENUS – Charlie Jan Thomas passed away at home on Monday, May 8, 2017, at the age of 66.
Funeral Service: 2 pm Wednesday at Blessings Funeral Home in Mansfield. Family will gather at Mike and Jan’s home in Venus following the service.
Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Tommy Shoemaker will officiate.
Jan was born Dec. 22, 1950 to Charlie Ernest and Eva Mae Prater in Fort Worth. She grew up in Mansfield, graduated in 1969 from Mansfield High School. On July 20, 1970 she married the love of her life Mike Thomas in Glen Rose. They have been married for 46 yrs. She was active with the Cleburne Youth Rodeo, Johnson County Junior Sheriffs Posse, and Johnson County Sheriffs Posse. She loved going to watch her kids and grandkids ropings, rodeos and all other activities. Jan retired from Martin Sprocket and Gear in Arlington after 47 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sandra Gayle Geo.
Survivors: Her husband, Mike, daughter Vicki McDonald of Midlothian; sons, David and wife Tanya of Venus, Randy and wife Tara of Alvarado, and Joseph “Porkchop” and wife Jacqueline of Burleson; grandchildren, Amanda, Tate, Abigail, Jessica, Brittne, Taylor, Carter, Ella, Paislee and Oaklee; brothers, Ernest Wayne Prater and wife LaCleta of Irving, and Jimmy Prater and wife Kathy of Mansfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
