James Lyle Wohlfert, 75, transcended to Heaven peacefully on May 16, 2023. James, or affectionally know as Jim, was born December 19, 1947 in Lansing, Michigan, to Cleora Mae Crampton and Clarence Edmond Wohlfert. Jim spent four years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. He retired from General Motors after a career spanning well over forty years. In his younger years he enjoyed socializing with family and friends, played various sports and riding motorcycles. His upbringing led him to be a loyal man to both family and work. As Jim grew older, he loved watching NASCAR. Jim was a simple man who enjoyed a good time and was a hard worker. He took care of his family, in so much as the time of his crossing grew near, he cautioned friends and family not to live the life he had lived and in doing so, not bring about the medical issues he faced. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Joyce Carpenter and Patti Wohlfert. He is survived by his sons, Troy Wohlfert (Kendra), Shane Wohlfert (Jeanette), and Donny Irelan; grandchildren Cody and Dana Wohlfert; great-grandchild, Ava Wohlfert; brother, Roy Wohlfert (Jodie); and former wife and lifelong friend Rosemary Wohlfert.
