James Dalphon Landrus

August 10, 1929 — January 7, 2014

James Dalphon Landrus of Burleson Texas went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2014. He was born on August 8, 1929 in Indianapolis, IN to Orville D. and Leora (Kennedy) Landrus.

James Landrus graduated from General Motors Institute with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and entered the workforce with Detroit Diesel Allison in Indianapolis. After serving in Germany with the 526th Mil Intel unit, James returned to Allison and completed his masters in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) from Purdue. Retiring from Allison after 37 years, James moved to North Central Arkansas to be a farmer before being recruited to be a professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Leora Landrus. Those left to celebrate his life are; three sons, Frank Landrus and wife Linda, Mike Landrus and wife Susan, Kurt Landrus and wife Elena; one daughter, Linda Lauter and husband Keith; four step-sons, James Covalt, Dave Covalt , Allan Gordus and wife Mary-Beth, Andrew Gordus and wife Angelica; thirteen grandchildren, Amanda Morow and husband Michael, Alyssa Landrus, Staysa Landrus, Kelsey Ligon and husband Arec, Sandy Lauter, Shelby Lauter, Aracelli Gordus, Azucena Gordus, Andre Gordus, Anna Gordus, Mara Gordus, David Covalt, and Kristin Covalt.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 18, 2014 at 2:00PM at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield.
