Howard Don Wages, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, at The Lodge in Saginaw, Texas. He was born on May 22, 1936, in Paris, Texas, to John Howard Wages and JoAnne Peikert Wages.
Howard served his country with honor and distinction for 27 years in the United States Marines, Army, and Texas Air National Guard. He also worked with the National Security Agency (NSA), contributing his skills and expertise in defense and intelligence. His career took him around the world, and he lived a life of global service and impact.
He held a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. He applied his education in a wide-ranging professional life that included work as an electrician, air conditioning specialist, entrepreneur, adjunct professor, police officer, and engineer.
Howard was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge (Past Master), Scottish Rite (32°), and York Rite (Royal Arch Mason and Royal & Select Masters). A man of deep faith, he was affectionately known as “The Marble Man,” sharing his testimony and love for the Lord by giving marbles to others as a symbol of faith and encouragement.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Howard loved God and his country and worked alongside his wife of 65 years, Anna Faye Wages, to raise their family with love and purpose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Howard Wages and JoAnne Peikert Wages; his brother, Jimmy Dow Wages; and his beloved wife, Anna Faye Wages.
Howard is survived by his son, Donald Wages (Debbie) of Nocona, Texas; his daughter, Sherri Richardson of Saginaw, Texas; and his son Kenneth Wages (Crystal) of Stanfield, North Carolina.
He is also survived by his sister, Pattie Batchelor of Irving, TX. His grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren: Chris, Eric, Daniel, Joseph, Miles, Carlee, Salem, Athena, Jessie, Chase, Summer, Sean, Angelina, Kallie, Kyra, Ayden, Evan, and Gracelynn.
Howard’s life was one of service, devotion, and unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
