Mansfield- Herbert Buckley Jr. (Herbie) passed away quietly in his sleep April 19, 2015 at a Fort Worth nursing facility. He was 51.
Herbert, known as Herbie or Jr., was born in Peoria, Illinois on January 13, 1964 to Herbert and Bertha Buckley.
Herbie was Mansfield resident for nearly 40 years. Growing up in downtown Mansfield, he spent most of his young years working and hanging out at the famous Corner Pocket Pool Hall in downtown Mansfield playing video games and dominos. He also worked at the C & S Mini Mart and the Oasis at Joe Pool Lake.
In 1993, he was diagnosed with diabetes and over the years it had taken control of his life. Last year, he was found to have cancer on his liver and kidneys. He had overcome the cancer, but the diabetes had confined him to a wheelchair. He will also be remembered for his ballcap and dip of Copenhagen that he never went without.
Herb was preceeded in death by his parents Herbert & Bertha Buckley. He is survived by his wife Stacy Buckley, brother, Brian S. Buckley, sisters Tammie Bailey and Teresa Britt, Aunt Peg and Uncle Jonsey, 2 neices and 1 nephew. However, the true survivor is the memory we hold in Herbie and knowing that he is no longer suffering and is at peace.
