Harrel Dene Adkison

August 9, 1948 — September 2, 2014

Harrel Dene Adkison, 66, of Mansfield, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2014.
Harrel and his twin brother were born August 9, 1948 in Shidler, OK. He was the ninth of ten children born to Arthur and Eva Adkison. After his family moved to Spearman, TX, Harrel met the love of his life, Connie Fowler, and they were married in July 1968. Harrel received his college degree from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene and was proud to be a Cowboy. Harrel and Connie settled in Mansfield where they raised their sons, Bryan and Micah, and their daughter, Jamie.
After serving as an officer in the United States Army, Harrel spent most of his career in banking. He was highly regarded as a banker and had very loyal customers. He developed many quality relationships over the years, and many people in Mansfield and surrounding areas have fond memories of Harrel as their banker and friend. He retired from banking to ranching full time in March 2010.
Harrel was a devoted follower of Christ and it is through His grace that we bear this loss. Harrel was proud of his heritage. He loved the outdoors and taught his children to appreciate nature and wildlife. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but mostly enjoyed the camaraderie of men that came with these endeavors. Harrel loved his family dearly and the legacy he leaves to them will be forever felt. We will always cherish the memories of Harrel as our loving husband, Dad, and Pa.
Survivors: Harrel will be deeply missed by his wife of 46 years, Connie; his son, Bryan and his wife, Allison; his son Micah and his wife, Melissa; his daughter Jamie; six grandchildren, Audrey, Bailey, Colbie, Hondo, Hico and Virginia; and many, many more extended family members and friends.
