Harold M. Bell, affectionately known as "Papa," passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on November 25, 1940, in Van Buren County, Iowa to Harold Clyde & Mildred Bell, Harold spent his last 40 years living in Mansfield, Texas, where he was a beloved figure in his community.
Harold was married to his devoted wife, Ellen Bell, and together they raised a family that includes their five children, Mike Bell, Scott Bell, Chris Bell, Tracey Neal, and Kathy Romo. Their eleven grandchildren, Kimberly Bell, Kaylee Bell, Candice Leslie, Joshua Bell, Azariah Bell, Malachi Bell, Jacob Whitten, Emmarson Bell, Keaton Kocian, Christopher Bell, and Kaleb Bell. And six great-grandchildren, Landon Gauna, Lacy Gauna, Breanna Baumeister, Kaydence McClain, Crosby Whitten, and Riley Whitten. Harold also leaves behind his brothers Gary and Roger Bell, and sister-in-law Judy Chappell. All of whom cherish his memory. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Clyde & Mildred Bell and granddaughter Kimberly.
A dedicated community leader, Harold devoted over 30 years of service to various local organizations. He served as member and treasurer of Mansfield Rotary Club, Board trustee of the Mansfield Independent School district where he was awarded an Honorary Life Membership by the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers for distinguished service to children and youth, and a member and President of the Mansfield Parks Facility Development Corporation. In 2019 Harold M. Bell Park was named and dedicated to him. His commitment to enriching the lives of those around him will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Harold's legacy of love, service, and community spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and the countless lives he touched throughout his life.
