Guadalupe Vela Lopez, 75, of Rio Grande City TX, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on August 24, 2021, in Venus TX.
Visitation will be on August 30, 2021, from 9-5pm, Eulogy from 5-7pm, and Rosary from 7-8pm at Blessing Colonial Chapel in Mansfield, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am August 31, 2021, at St. Jude Catholic Church at 500 E Dallas St. Mansfield, TX 76063. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery at 3200 Cannon Dr. Mansfield, TX 76063.
Guadalupe Vela Lopez was born in Rio Grande City, TX to Cipriano and Romana Lopez on July 31, 1946. He attended High School at Rio Grande High where he played football for his entire high school career for the Rio Grande Rattlers, number 31. He married Maria Dolores Gutierrez on November 28, 1970, in Nueva Rosita Coahuila, Mexico. He retired from Vought as an Aircraft Mechanic where he worked for 30 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Guadalupe Vela Lopez is preceded in death by father Cipriano Lopez, mother Romana Lopez, brother Leonel Lopez, sisters Virginia Montes and Olga Lopez. Brother-in-law Jorge Gutierrez.
Guadalupe Vela Lopez is survived by spouse Maria Dolores Lopez: Children, Gerardo and spouse Meridith Lopez, Perla and spouse Sergio Almendariz, and Yesenia and spouse Marcos Gonzalez. Grandchildren, Sergio E and spouse Dusty Almendariz, Cristian and spouse Karen Almendariz, Darian Lopez, Christian Peery, Iesa Lopez-Gonzalez, Venessa Almendariz, Dalion Lopez, Cipriano Gonzalez, Dawson Lopez, Cerena Gonzalez, Dalton Lopez. Great-grandchild Oliver Peery. Brothers, Cipriano and spouse Guadalupe Lopez, Roberto and spouse Maria Lopez and sister-in-law Guadalupe Guzman. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be: Sergio E Almendariz, Cristian Almendariz, Christian Peery, Dalion Lopez, Cipriano Gonzalez, Dawson Lopez and Dalton Lopez.
Lupe enjoyed game nights with family, going to the casino, boxing, and was a Die Hard COWBOYS fan.
