Gordie Leeunar Grimes

Gordie Leeunar Stagner-Grimes, 80, of Joshua, Texas, passed away at 11:03 AM on Saturday, May 17, 2014 in the Emery J. Lilge Hospice House in Burleson, Texas.
Gordie was born in Hamilton, Hamilton County, Texas on July 18, 1933, the daughter of Mable Leeunar Stagner and Gordie Melvin Arnett. She married James William Grimes, Sr. on June 2, 1956 in Mansfield, Texas. Gordie was a school bus driver for the Mansfield and Venus school districts plus being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She always had a great smile plus she loved flowers and animals and was never sad. She would say “hi” to people, who would always say “hi” back to her. Everywhere she went, she always made friends.
Gordie was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, her parents, two children, five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Survivors include her children, Naomi Carlton of Joshua, Texas, James Grimes, Jr. and wife Reba of Alvarado, Gordie Davis and husband Jim of Venus, Charley Grimes, Sr. of Venus, Joseph Grimes, Sr. of Joshua and Dale Grimes and wife Jane of Arlington; 21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
