Geraldine Irby, 83 of Fort Worth, passed away on February 16, 2023. She was residing at the Pecan Manor Nursing Home at the time of her passing. Geraldine was born in Fort Worth, Texas on May 28, 1939 where she was raised by her parents Ola and Alvis Carpenter. She graduated from Fort Worth Technical High School in 1957 as a Nurses’ Assistant and worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Worth until her marriage to Harvey Allen Irby. She and Harvey had two sons, Gary and Philip Irby.
Geraldine began preaching during revivals at the age of 16. After becoming a wife, she was a homemaker and continued to serve in her church fulfilling multiple roles. She served and preached in churches from Louisiana to Texas. Spending most of her adulthood at Faith Chapel in Arlington, Texas. Geraldine had a passion for God and her family. Known as Nana by her grandkids she could be found in the bleachers watching their sporting events. Geraldine definitely was known to be silly and loved to laugh.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ola and Alvis Carpenter; her siblings, Arthur (JR) Horn, Oliver Horn, Lois Smith and Mary Jean Livingston.
Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Gary Irby and wife, Kim Irby; Philip Irby and wife, Starla Irby; daughter-in-law, Karen Barnett; grandchildren, Shane Irby, Taylor Hill and husband Hayden Hill, Lindsay Irby, Caitlynn Timberlake, Mason Timberlake and wife Morgan Timberlake and Noah Timberlake; and numerous loving nieces and nephews
