Gary was born in Fort Worth, Texas on March 11, 1952. He graduated with honors from The University of Texas at Arlington with a BS in Biology-Pre-Med. In 1977 he began his 25 year career at Alcon Labs.
Gary enjoyed playing the saxophone and piano. He loved bow hunting, fishing, soccer and tennis. After retirement he started his own knife making business and made many beautiful knives.
In 2013 he moved to the New Orleans area to be near his daughter and grandchildren. They were a great blessing to him. His wonderful sense of humor and his witty comments made everyone laugh. The grandchildren loved his never-ending story telling. He was a joy to be around.
Gary and Linda were married for 48 years. He is survived by his wife, Linda Criswell; daughter, Sumerlyne Simone and husband, Joey; brother, David Criswell and wife, Jackie; sister, Cynthia Criswell-Coffman; grandchildren, Joseph Simone III, Riley Simone, Morgan Simone and Stephen Frank Simone, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Imogene Criswell and his son, Chad Frank Criswell.
