William “Garland” Underdown (Paw Paw), 86, of Alvarado, received his wings on Sept. 25, 2017.
Paw Paw died peacefully surrounded by his loved one’s.
Service: 1 p.m., Saturday at Retta Baptist Church, Burleson. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at Blessing Funeral Home, Mansfield.
He was born on May 11, 1931 in the Rio Vista area to Edward Wiley and Iva Myrtle Underdown.
He had seven sisters and two brothers. All of which preceded him in death.
He married the love of his life La Wanda June Turner on Oct. 1, 1949. They would have been celebrating 68 years of marriage on Sunday.
He was a farmer before being employed at General Dynamics for 18 years. He then went to work at Brown and Root in Glen Rose. He later retired from there. He liked to ride his lawn mower and golf cart and sit in the sun on his porch. He also liked word search puzzles. He was a member of Retta Baptist Church for 20 years.
He loved the Lord and his family above anything.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Underdown; children, Gerald Underdown, Vicki Underdown, Jimmy Underdown (Rayann); grandchildren, Angela, Jennifer, Ashley, Jesse, Matthew, Reagan and Tanner; Great-grandchildren, MaKynley, Laidyn, Lily, Zachary, Kori, Benjamin, Mason, Bailey, Emersyn, Abby Jo, Jayden and Chyler.
