ARLINGTON -- Fred N. Hubbell, passed away Aug. 15, 2016 in Arlington.
Services: Fred will be buried along with his wife Nancy in a family plot in Bridgeport, Connecticut. There will be no services at Fred's request, but he would be honored to have donations made in his memory to either the Heart Association or Princeton University.
Fred was born to Walter and Maud Hubbell on August 31, 1921, in Bridgeport and raised in Stratford, Connecticut. He attended Stratford high school prior to going to, playing basketball for and graduating from The Choate School. After Choate Fred went on to Princeton University where he also played basketball and majored in engineering. He left university in 1942 to marry his longtime friend and sweetheart, Nancy Jones, and to serve in the Army during WWII.
When Fred returned from serving in Italy as a First Lieutenant he went to work as a sales rep and then a researcher in the chemical and metal finishing industry. In 1977, after many years of working in and learning from the two industries Fred started he own business, Dura-Tech Processes, Inc., which is a specialized metal finishing business acting as a sub-contractor to the oilfield equipment industry, and which is now in its third generation of Hubbell management.
Outside of his profession Fred loved his family and enjoyed time with them especially when it involved playing, watching or attending sports events, especially golf and basketball. .
Fred was preceded in death by his beloved first wife of 54 years, Nancy, and his second wife, Grayce, and his two brothers and two sisters.
Fred is survived by his son, Frederick N. Hubbell, Jr. and his wife Linda; his son Paul Hubbell and wife Arlene; his daughter, Beth Sousa and her husband Bill; his six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
