MANSFIELD -- Flavil Leon Johnson, a retired Army lieutenant colonel, was carried on the wings of angels to heaven Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013.
Service: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Blessing Colonial Chapel, Mansfield. Interment: 1:15 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Upon returning from World War II, Flavil completed his education with a master's degree from Texas Christian University. While at TCU, he was the first Army ROTC cadet colonel. His career as an Army pilot took him to Vietnam for two tours, along with various assignments around the world. After retirement, Flavil traveled to Iran with Bell Helicopter International as a training school director. He then returned to Fort Worth and taught at TCC Northwest Campus. Flavil and his beloved Nell enjoyed family, entertaining friends and supporting the Horned Frogs.
The family cherishes the love and care received by the staff and friends at the Isle at Watercrest in Mansfield.
He will be greatly missed.
