Fae Llewellyn Hogan

July 11, 1952 — June 5, 2017

Fae Llewellyn Hogan, 64, passed away June 5, 2017. Fae was born to Mitchell Llewellyn Thomas and Ruby Ellen Grimes Thomas on July 11, 1952 in Dallas County, Texas. After her mother’s death in 1955, Fae (along with her brother Bruce) was adopted to her aunt, Nora Thomas Wyatt and her husband Leslie C. Wyatt, and resided with them in Ft. Worth, TX.
Fae married Luther Hogan on June 11, 1970 at Rosemont Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, TX. While raising their children, Fae graduated nursing school in 1981 and started her nursing career at All Saints hospital in Ft. Worth, TX. She later transitioned to Health South Rehab hospital where she eventually became a patient after a severe car accident in 2002. Although everyone in the family agrees that the accident was a life-altering event for her, nothing could diminish Fae’s fighting spirit and will to survive. Fae endured countless hospitalizations, numerous operations and illnesses. With the help of her family, Fae persisted with grit and determination, achieving recoveries that baffled health professionals for over 15 years.
Family gatherings were extremely important to Fae, especially the 4th of July and Christmas. Each Independence Day celebration was spent with water slides, food, fireworks and an open-door policy for anyone who needed a place to celebrate. Every Christmas was spent making sure everyone (especially her grandchildren) had special gifts and were buried in a mound of wrapping paper. Her greatest joy was to see her family, with smiles on their faces. Fae would often provide Christmas to those who could not afford to do it themselves.
Many of her friends and family received home-made woodworking gifts from Fae (and Luther). Fae enjoyed sewing special gifts, curtains, dresses, bedding and aprons and gave them to many people throughout her life. Fae put a lot of love and thought into these special projects, and used her hands and skill to show those in her life how much she loved them.
Fae was an avid bowler throughout her life, served as a league secretary for many years and spent countless hours bowling with her friends and family. At one time in her earlier years, she appeared on the Television show “Bowling for Dollars”. Her children recall growing up in the bowling alley, and eventually bowling with her as they grew older. Both family and friends will miss her fiery personality, her competitive nature and the love she had for her friends and family.
Fae is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Nancy and great-grandson Zane. She is survived by her husband, Luther, sons Les and Bryan, daughters Angela and Gina, grandsons (Stratton, Leslie Jr., Franklin, Lucas, Nathan, Donovan, Dalton) granddaughters (Shannah, Nancy, Tarah, Madison, Emily and Allison). Fae also leaves behind two great-grandchildren.
