Eva Spriggs

Eva Mouret Spriggs, 94, of Mansfield, Texas, passed away 21 December 2014.
Eva Spriggs was born in 1920 in Morgan, PA, to Mary Volle and Jerome Mouret.
She was the daughter and granddaughter of the Mouret and Volle coal mining
families that emigrated from France in the early 1900s. She had one sister,
Helen Young, who preceded her in death.
She lived in Morgan until 1936 when the state highway department bought the
family home to widen the highway. The state gave the home back to the family
who moved it to 442 Shady Ave. in Bridgeville, PA, where it stands today.
Eva graduated from Bridgeville High School in 1938 and went on to graduate
from the Canonsburg Hospital School of Nursing in 1941. She married her high
school sweetheart, Leonard H. Spriggs, in 1942. While Leonard served in the
Coast Guard during WW II, Eva began her nursing career in local hospitals,
and then went to work for Dr. Dante Pigossi, in Bridgeville. She also worked at
St.Clair Hospital retiring in 1970. She was a 50+ year member of the Greentree
Chapter 544 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, and daughter, Cheryle
Hustwit. Surviving is her son, Dana of Mansfield, TX; her grandchildren Rob
(Sarah) Hustwit of McKinney, TX, Dr. Jeremy (Wendy) Hustwit of Fayetteville,
NC, Dr. Meredith (Mark) Gronski, of Lake St. Louis, MO, and six great-
grandchildren. She is also survived by her cousins, Dr. Robert Volle, of Avon,
CT, Joseph D’Andrea of Hope Mills, NC, Joan Burgunder, of Coroapolis. PA,
Yvonne Anderson of Rocky Mount, NC, & Craig Volle of Charleroi, PA.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made in her
name to the Bridgeville Area Historical Society or the charity of your choice.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staffs at COE Home
Health, Walnut Creek Assisted Living, and Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving,
compassionate, and caring support.
