Ernest Leo Stutheit, 82, passed away Tuesday April 12, 2016, at Universal Hospice, surrounded by loving family and a most caring staff.
SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 29 at WestWind Christian Church, Keller and interment in the Fort Worth-Dallas National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to a scholarship fund for the School of Geology, TCU, Box 297044, Fort Worth, Texas, 76129, indicating the gift is in memory of Ernest Stutheit, or a charity of your choice. Ernest was born in North Platte, NE and preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister. He retired from the Army in 1981 where his career was spent in Military Intelligence, as a Korean Linguist and Far Eastern Specialist. The 3rd North Korean tunnel, under the DMZ was discovered by his team, thus, making him a Korean National Hero. Finally, his TCU Geology Degree had been put to excellent use. With retirement he was able to enjoy spending time with grand children and "greats", golf (including a hole in one), TCU Football, TCU Quinq Club and Golden Frogs. He indeed bled purple. Ernest also enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts, and traveling both stateside (including a family trip to Alaska) and abroad. His oil paintings grace the walls of many homes. Ernest also loved singing in many Church Choirs.
SURVIVORS: Ernest is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lola Delehoy Stutheit, sister Barbara Ashburn and sons: Mark (wife Susanne), Michael (wife Lorinda), Matthew (wife Julie), Scott (wife Tracy), 10 Grandchildren, and 13 Great Grandchildren. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on.
