Edgar Thomas “Tom” Patterson ascended to his Heavenly Father on November 6, 2020. He was 77.
Tom was born to Edgar T. and Helen A. (Soule) Patterson on September 26, 1943 in Providence, Rhode Island. He attended public school in Lincoln, Rhode Island, and was active in Boy Scouts of America earning the distinguished Eagle Scout Award.
Tom earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1965 where he also served in the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army for seven years, serving two heroic tours in Vietnam and achieving the rank of Captain.
Tom retired in 2006 from Genuine Parts, Co. after serving in several positions. He moved to Texas to take a Regional Sales Manager position.
Tom loved his Heavenly Father and served Him as a Mission Team member at First United Methodist Church in Mansfield. Tom served on multiple mission teams to support Casa Bugambilia and the Methodist Church Wheelchair Ministry.
His greatest enjoyment in life was time spent fishing and involved in the active lives of his grandchildren: Darby, Aidan, Cole Watson and Lucia Hill.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stephen D. Patterson.
Tom is survived by his wife of 23 years, Dianne Taylor Patterson, son Todd Patterson (wife Mabel), daughter Danielle Patterson, step children Jennifer Watson (husband Billy), Brandon DeVore (wife Carson), Joel Hill, and Aimie Kemp (husband Gary), brother Kenneth D. Patterson (wife Jan), sister-in-law Marie Patterson, cousin Nancy Boardman (husband Carl) and numerous nieces and nephews.
