Doyle Wayne Bridges, Jr.

November 22, 1971 — November 2, 2022

Doyle Wayne Bridges, Jr., went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the young age of 50. Wayne was born on November 22, 1971, in Beaumont, Texas, to the union of Debra Richardson Bridges and Doyle Wayne Bridges, Sr.

Wayne spent most of his youth in Ringgold, Louisiana, then graduated from East Ascension High School in Gonzales, Louisiana, in 1989. Shortly thereafter, he made DFW his permanent home.

He worked at Etheridge Electric for several years before finding his calling with his “family” at Shermco Industries, where he worked until his retirement in 2013.

Wayne prided himself on being the grandson of the Big Bopper. Although he didn't dance, Wayne was a music aficionado, playing the saxophone, with partiality to the alto.

Wayne was a warm hearted, social butterfly with a knack for one liners and storytelling. He was always ready to give great advice to his friends and family. He enjoyed fishing with friends, making lures, and cooking sauce piquant for everyone he loved.

Wayne loved traveling the world with Johanna, and always reminisced that Spain, Italy, Amsterdam, the UK, and Sri Lanka were among his most memorable places. However, the music and food of New Orleans always brought him the most joy.

Wayne was a fan of all sports, but truly enjoyed the LSU Tigers, Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Texas Rangers, Mavericks, and the Stars. He was also an advocate for youth sports, coaching several local baseball teams throughout the years. Through his most recent hobby, Chantilly Baits, Wayne provided sponsorships to both youth and professional fishing teams across the states of Texas and Louisiana. Of all his many activities, nothing brought him greater joy than cheering on his grandsons at their football and baseball games.

Wayne was a great man, a thoughtful and loving husband, a doting grandfather, and a dear friend to so many.

He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Johanna Pugh Bridges; father, Doyle Wayne Bridges, Sr., (Patricia); a daughter, Katherine Bloxom Guidry (Clifford,Jr.), grandsons, Kaden Alexander Bloxom and Colin Anthony Guidry; a son, Todd Michael Bridges; a brother, Wesley Keith Bridges (Shannon), nieces Mallory Hamilton, Julie Bridges, and Shellie Bridges, nephew, Mason Bridges; a step sister, Ginger Marie Woolley, nieces, Melaine Gaicobbi, Sable Morgan, and Abigail Morgan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
