MANSFIELD -- Dorothy Ellis Jenkins, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed peacefully away Saturday, May 21, 2016.
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Methodist, Mansfield. Burial following in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Dorothy was born April 29, 1931, in Pampa. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Viola Ellis and her sister Ella Mae Patterson. She was a faithful servant of the Lord. Dorothy was a faithful and loving wife to Nelson for 67 years, and admired how there was nothing he couldn't fix. She spent her life as a homemaker and loved arts and crafts of all kinds including sewing, quilting and painting. Bible study was a very important part of her life. She taught Bible Study Fellowship as well as led neighborhood and church Bible studies to ladies for over 50 years. She was an avid sports nut. She loved college football, professional football and baseball but most especially golf. Sunday afternoon would find her glued to the T.V. watching the PGA. But the thing she loved most was playing with her grandchildren. She was often described as sweet and although she held opinions, she didn't freely share them. She was most known for her words of encouragement.
