Doris Jean Perry Hughes

Doris Jean Hughes was born on March 15, 1930, to Alvin Lee Bulin and Hazel (nee Austin), in Kennedale, Texas. Jean went home to the place she most cherished to worship our Lord and Savior on October 24, 2024. She married L.C. Perry on February 2, 1951. From this marriage came three beautiful daughters.

Jean spent many hours contributing to the growth of Mansfield through her diligent service with the Chamber of Commerce. She was active in growing the faith of those around her with service at the First Baptist Church of Mansfield. She played for the local nursing home throughout the years. She played for many funerals throughout the years. Jean was also a talented seamstress and created beautiful clothing for her daughters and grandchildren through the years. Her creativity in sewing and music is still cherished and exists amongst her daughters and grandchildren today. Jean loved spending time with her family and friends, and often held bridge parties with numerous guests. She doted on her grandchildren as often as she could and even was Mrs. Clause every Christmas for the town of Mansfield. After her husband passed away, she married John Hughes, December 8, 1996 to whom she was married until her passing.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, late husband L.C. Perry, her sisters Catherine McIntyre, Geraldine Irvin, Virginia Holt, her brother Tommy Bulin and infant grandson, Jason Davis.

She is survived by her husband, John Hughes of Mansfield, his three daughters, Shannon Link, Mary Ellen Birch and Rebecca Hughes. 

She is also survived by her three daughters, Suzanne and husband Danny Ray of Mansfield; Kathryn Cockrill of Hubbard and Celeste and Billy Hughes of Kanab, Utah. Grandchildren, Jared Ray and wife Jessica of Mansfield; Joshua Davis and wife Ginnie of Corsicana; Lucas Hale and wife LeeAnna of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Mandy Ray DeJohn and George DeJohn of Dallas; Jessica and husband Rene Moreno of Waxahachie; Will Hale of Wyoming; Oliver Hughes of Montana and Chelsea and husband Luke Efta of Cascade, Montana. She is survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jean, mother, Mimi will be missed more than words can express. However, we will rest in the comfort that she praised our Lord in the valleys and amongst the highest peaks of life. She now plays the most beautiful hymns in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
