Dora Lee Ervin, 90, with her family by her side, went home to her Lord on November 24, 2016, at a Dallas hospice facility.
Dora Lee was born to Lawrence Lyle Hemphill and Thelma Ivy (Baker) Hemphill on September 20, 1926 in Carney, Oklahoma. After her high school years, and at the age of 20, she married Earl Hozy Erivn on December 24, 1946, in Fort Worth, Texas. Dora Lee was a homemaker and a devoted stay-at-home mother. Earl and Dora raised their children here in Mansfield and made Mansfield home, however, because of Earl’s employment with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, the family moved around the southern part of the United States, which the family enjoyed. They did move to Little Rock, Arkansas for a few years because of Earl’s employment as well as Camp Polk in Leesville, Louisiana, at the end of Earl’s tenure and return in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. From Louisiana, Dora moved her family home to Fort Stewart, Georgia, for two years of Earl’s military service, before returning home to Mansfield. Earl’s military commitment ended on September 24, 1963. After Earl’s passing on December 6, 2009, Dora Lee moved to Dallas to be near her daughter Connie.
Dora Lee was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband Earl, sister Rexie Tidwell, daughter Linda Susan Ervin Simmons and son Richard Michael Ervin.
Dora Lee is survived by her daughter Connie Lee Givens, as well as Connie’s husband Glenn Clark, and daughter-in-law Margaret Ann Ervin, wife to Dora and Earl’s deceased son, Richard Michael Ervin; grandchildren Jason Simmons and wife Mendy, Wendy Simmons Miller and husband Ray, Rebecca Ervin Montgomery and husband Ed, Natalie Brooke Givens and husband Aaron Cole, Christa Ervin Brown and husband Jesse; great-grandchildren Ashley Miller, Caleb Simmons, John, Millie and Sadie Montgomery, Richard James Brown and Bennet Givens Cole as well as many nieces and nephews.
For those who knew and loved Dora Lee, she will be missed.
