Glenn Heights -- Donna Kay Griffitt, nee Hoffer passed away at her home in Glenn Heights on November 4,2016.
Memorial: 1 p.m. Sunday at Blessing Funeral Home, Mansfield.
She was born on November 6, 1955 at Carswell Air Force Base Hospital.
Growing up in a US Air Force family, she lived with her family in Fort Worth, Anchorage, Alaska and Abilene and moved seven times from 1955 until 1966.
She attended Austin Elementary School and Madison Junior High School in Abilene. As a child, she loved to dance and learned to play the piano.
Her family moved to Fort Worth in 1972 and attended and graduated from Paschal High School in 1974. Shortly thereafter, Donna joined the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, trained in air traffic control. She studied and graduated from the St. Joseph Hospital - licensed vocational nurse program.
She worked for St. Joseph Hospital for a few years. From 1980 until 1986 her parents owned the Texas Sampler Restaurant near Texas Christian University and Donna worked in the business. Most recently, she had moved to Glenn Heights to be closer to her daughter Candace White.
She is survived by her daughter Candace White of Cedar Hill; her parents, John and Kay Hoffer of Burleson; her sister Cheryl Reed and husband, Don of Burleson; her brother Michael Hoffer and wife, Brenda of Fort Worth; nephew, Jeffrey Ogle, niece, Lauren Allen; step nephews, Cody and Clayton Reed; cousins Trena Helpenstill of Big Sandy; Becky Toland and Jonathan of Hallsville; Cindy Hall and husband Ron of Sand Hill; Kenneth Collier and wife Ann of Gilmer; Janet Bowers and husband Mel of Heber, Arizona; Larry Don Fink of Chico, California; and Ray Ferrell of Houston.
