Donald Neil Lewis

Donald Neil Lewis, aged 72, went home to be with the Lord December 4, 2023. He was born July 4, 1951 in Mansfield, Ohio and adopted as an infant by his parents Donald Floyd Lewis and Margaret Hildebrand Lewis.

Don made an impact on everyone he met with his humor, personality, and quick wit. He loved to joke and make people laugh. He toured Europe as a member of the All-State Ohio Choir. Don enjoyed weekly golf, Ohio State Buckeye Football, leading Sunday School, and being surrounded with family and friends. He also loved serving in the church choir and drama ministries at First Baptist Church Midland, TX.

Don enlisted in the honorable United States Air Force in 1969. He was a sergeant, specializing in Air Traffic Control. During Don’s enlistment he received the AFGCM (Air Force Good Conduct Medal) and the AFLSA (Air Force Longevity Service Award.)

When Don met Jeannie Grizzard in the Spring of 1973 at the softball field in Big Spring, TX, he was smitten. He asked her to marry him on their second date. Jeannie waited six long weeks to say yes. They married January 26, 1974. Together they shared a loving 50 years, having two children Katie and Casey. He was a devoted husband, father, and “Papa Tubbs.” His 4 grandchildren were his pride and joy. Raised in Ohio, he spent the majority of his life a Texan. Most recently he was a proud resident of Mansfield, TX.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Margaret Lewis and brother Richard Lewis.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Jeannie Lewis, children Katie Mejia and husband Travis, Casey Lewis and wife Sara, grandchildren Aiden Lewis, Ashlyn Lewis, Lillian Mejia, and Waylon Mejia, brother-in-law Jim Grizzard and his wife Cindy, sister-in-law Priscilla Brown and her husband Ron, sister-in-law Kim Lamb, and numerous extended family and friends.
