Donald Lewis

April 2, 1937 — August 30, 2013

Donald Wayne Lewis, 76, of Arlington, Texas, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 in Community Hospice at Arlington Memorial Hospital. Don was born in Tira, Texas on April 2, 1937. After living several years in the East Texas area, he ended up in Grand Prairie. There he met his wife of 58 years, Leah Ann Williams. After traveling Texas and helping build many of the highways & byways, they settled in Mansfield to raise their family. There Don formed his own business; Don Lewis General Contractor. With this business he built many of the streets we currently use in Mansfield. He built railroad spurs in the industrial area; he built some of the ballparks in Mansfield and helped to maintain others. Don also sponsored some of the little league teams. Through this love of his community, Mansfield honored him with Citizen of the year in 1981. In Don's more recent years, he helped with the dirt work and personally graded the slopes for Texas Motor Speedway. He also became a member of the 'Whataburger Club' having coffee with friends he loved. Don was also a member of Mansfield Church of Christ. He leaves behind a loving family and many friends who will miss him dearly. Survivors: Wife, Leah Ann; children, Donny Lewis and wife Paula and Betsy Dodson and husband Robert; grandchildren, Sherri and husband Chris, Holly, Derek and wife Stephany and Josh; seven siblings: Brothers; Gene, Gary and wife Rachel, Tommy and Richard. Sisters; Wanda, Dorothy and husband Donald and Judy. Don was predeceased by his parents Barney and Edna Lewis and sisters Bobbie Nell and Brenda Joy.
