Don Sutterfield

Don Sutterfield, 86, of Mansfield, Texas passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021.
Don was born April 4, 1934 to Virgil and Moneda Sutterfield in Pontotoc, Oklahoma. He lived in Oklahoma for about 9 years and then moved to Texas, settling in Plainview where he attended Plainview High School. He married Sally Whetzle in June of 1955. They lived in Dallas, Texas for about 2 years, and then moved to Arlington, Texas, where Don had started working for U. S. Steel. Afterward, Don moved his wife and family of 5 children and settled in Mansfield Texas in 1970.
Don was with U. S. Steel for 37 years. After retiring, he went on to work for the Texas Rangers Ball Club. He is quoted as saying, the Ball Club was one of his favorite jobs. Don Sutterfield was known by his family members and friends as having a quick wit and was one of the most loyal and dependable men you'll ever know.
Don is preceded in death by his father and mother, Virgil and Moneda, and by his son, Ronnie Sutterfield. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sally Sutterfield; his sons, Richard and Rob, his daughters, Sandy and Stacy, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. and many other nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, February 18, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas, and funeral services to be held Friday, February 19, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Arlington, Texas. Burial services to follow at Hawkins Cemetery in Arlington, Texas (See hawkinscemetery.com website for directions). With respect to pandemic restrictions, all attendees will be required to wear a mask and maintain appropriate social distancing.
Due to weather adversities, time and date of services at Hawkins Cemetery will be determined at a later date.
