David Edwin Wood

David Edwin Wood, 87, of Mansfield, went home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2024.
David was born to Grace Baines and Roy Edwin Wood on April 17, 1936, in Mosby, Missouri.

He received his associate degree while taking night classes and working days, all while he and his
wife, Geraldine, started their family in Kansas City, Missouri. As he was working towards his
degree, he started his employment at Merck Pharmaceuticals, where he stayed until his
retirement in 1993. His job at Merck would lead his family to Memphis, Tennessee, then eventually to Mansfield, Texas, where he lived until his passing.

On November 17, 1962, David married the love of his life, Geraldine Carol (Farmer) Wood, in
Kansas City, Missouri. Together they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. During his time in
Memphis, David was active in the Boy Scouts of America, where he assisted with the Troop,
taking many trips with his son Lonie. After moving to Texas, David became a 2nd Degree Mason, holding positions within that organization.

Along with his wife Geraldine, David was an active member of First Methodist Mansfield since
2004. He especially loved going to Sunday school and weekly church services. David was also a
member of Walnut Creek Country Club since 1993 and was very active in the Retired Men’s Golf
Association, acting as Membership Chairperson for many years. In his younger years, David sang bass with a gospel group, touring local churches around his home in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Before his retirement David and Geraldine enjoyed spending time camping, water-skiing, and
playing tennis. After his retirement, they enjoyed taking cruises, traveling, playing golf, and
attending musical performances. David loved his family and friends and enjoyed being at the
Club, playing golf, and spending time with the other members. Of the many accomplishments in
his life, David was most proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved being Papa to Regan
and Ryan, teaching them both how to drive the golf cart. He will be dearly missed by friends in
his communities and his loving family.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Roy Edwin Wood.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Geraldine; son Lonie Wood; daughter Missy (Wood) Raineri and husband Eddy Raineri; grandchildren, Regan Raineri and Ryan Raineri; and
four sisters, two brothers, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of dear friends.
