David Thomas Casebolt

September 15, 1952 — August 7, 2017

David Thomas Casebolt died unexpectedly on August 7th 2017 in Mansfield, Texas at the age of 64.
Dave is survived by his children, William Brian Casebolt of Bonita Springs, Florida, Timothy “Tim” Scott Casebolt of Fort Worth, Texas and Ramona “Ramie” Elizabeth Casebolt of Dallas, Texas; siblings, Yvonne Sproule of Amherst, Ohio, Greg Casebolt, and Shelia Casebolt-Wilms of Shelbyville, Kentucky; and grandchildren, McKenzie Martin, Kyndal Casebolt, and Kamryn Casebolt, all of Fort Worth, Texas; plus countless family members, friends and colleagues. Dave is preceded in death by his mother, JoAn Vanover of Elyria, Ohio; his father, Louis U. Casebolt of Elyria, Ohio; and his brother Terry “Smoke” Casebolt of Elyria, Ohio.
Dave was born on September 15th 1952 in Pikeville, Kentucky to JoAn and Louis, their first born child. He graduated from Elyria High School in Elyria, Ohio. Completing his course work while concurrently building his career, Dave graduated from Oberlin College in 1982 with a degree in Political Science. He married Margaret “Margy” Nordheim Casebolt Slonaker in 1980. Working within the consolidated waste industry since college and until his death, Dave led his family from Elyria, Ohio to Indianapolis, Indiana, and then to Boardman, Ohio, and eventually Fort Worth, Texas.
Over the course of eight years, the couple welcomed three children into their home and Dave set about teaching them the virtue of hard work and self-reliance, the unequivocal focus on family, and the simple joy of an impromptu Dairy Queen ice cream cone or Little Debbie’s snack. His children remember their dad as a simple, reserved man with a steadfast desire to make his children’s lives better than his own. Although a modest man, always wanting to support his kids without credit or fanfare to himself, Dave carried a larger than life smile and owned a bellowing laugh that could grab the attention of an entire room.
While Dave had an accomplished, 40+ year career within the waste industry serving in the Ohio, Indiana, and North Texas markets as well as supporting expansions within Saudi Arabia and Puerto Rico, he was most passionate about simply driving a truck, mentoring his fellow colleagues and filling in on an open shift.
Always devoted to his mother, Dave called her every Sunday until her death in 2006 and then carried on the tradition with his best friend, his sister, Yvonne, until the day before he died.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 AM on August 19, 2017 at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas with a reception to follow at 12:30 PM at Steven’s Garden and Grill. Yvonne Sproule will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dave's life. Additional services will be held in Elyria, Ohio on Dave’s 65th Birthday on September 15th 2017.
