David Lewis Anderson, 81, of Mansfield, went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2023. He was born to Maudie Mae and Robert Lee Anderson on June 3, 1941, in Leemaster, Virginia. He was one of nine children.
David enlisted in the United States Army at 18, serving in an aviation unit in Germany. After his service, he began a 32-year career finishing as a Production Superintendent with General Motors before his retirement in 2003. He continued to work as an independent consultant for many years following his retirement from General Motors.
He married his beloved wife, Linda Anderson, on September 28, 1963, in Pontiac, Michigan. Together they had three children, Kevin, Shauna, and Shelly.
David was a member of the American Legion and a Mason with the Michigan Masonic Lodge, where he held an honorary status. Both Linda and David attended First Methodist in Mansfield. David enjoyed golf, fishing, and hunting. He was a great mechanic. He was known as the “fix-it guy” in his neighborhood and loved playing that role well. Dave had a wonderful smile and could make friends with anyone. He also loved his pets. His neighbors will miss seeing Dave each morning walking George and Maddie. Above all, David loved his family and his grandchildren.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Maudie Mae and Robert Lee Anderson, and his siblings, Edward Anderson, Jeanette Ratliff, Eugene Anderson, Howard Anderson, Helen Shepherd, Bunia Wortz, and Albert Anderson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Linda Anderson; children, Kevin Anderson and wife, Lori; Shauna Whitney and husband, Roger; Shelly Gornall and husband, Josh Beaupre; grandchildren; Kelsey Martino and wife, Anna Marie Martino; Derek Anderson, Spencer Whitney, Emma Whitney, Olivia Beaupre, Claire Gornall, Michael Beaupre, and Graham Gornall; sister, Phyllis Whitt; and beloved dogs, George and Maddie.
