Darrell Ray Newcomer

March 16, 1948 — October 10, 2022

Darrell Ray Newcomer, 74 of Mansfield, went to be with the Lord on October 10, 2022. Darrell was born to Alberta Riggs and Raymond Dean Newcomer on March 16, 1948 in Quinter, Kansas. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas and went on to obtain a master’s degree in Hospital Pharmacy from Ohio State University. Darrell worked in numerous hospitals including Medical City of Arlington as Director of Pharmacy before he retired in 2017.

Darrell met the love of his life, Shirley Lefler, in Kansas working at a local drug store. They married on August 2, 1969 and together had two daughters. They were active members of Northwest Bible Church in Houston for 28 years. When Darrell’s job moved him to Mansfield, they had the benefit of being close to their children and grandchildren. Darrell and Shirley than become members of Trinity Presbyterian.
Darrell loved his family. He was an active volunteer at Church and enjoyed going to bible studies and being involved in the men’s group. He was an active Papa to his five grandchildren.

Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Alberta and Raymond Newcomer.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Shirley Newcomer; mother-in-law, Grandma B; beloved dog, Meghan; daughters, Amy Newcomer Thomas and husband, Jeremy, and Mindy Geron and husband, Kyle; grandchildren, Kaden Geron, Kai Geron, Emma Thomas, Benjamin Thomas, and Andrew Thomas; sisters, Carolyn Hoppe, Jody Ellis and husband, Marvin, Donna Bolles and husband, Randy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
