Cortney Renee Bass

November 16, 1981 — February 5, 2023

Cortney Renee Bass, 41 of Arlington, passed away on February 5, 2023 at her home surrounded by family and friends. Cortney was born to Almeda Benavides and Raymond Franco on November 16, 1981 in Dallas Texas. She graduated from Sam Houston High School and went on to continue her education taking classes at Tarrant County Community College and she also attended a trade school to become a dental assistant. She then truly found her calling and became an animal technician working in veterinarian optometry. She worked with the Animal Eye Clinic for nine years.

Cortney loved animals, she loved working, loved her job, and she loved her family. She was a wonderful and devoted mother to her daughter, Sydnee. The love those two had for each other was purely unconditional.

Cortney met her beloved husband, Joshua David Bass on their first date at the Fort Worth Water Gardens and the rest is history. The two married on January 17, 2020 in Fort Worth.

She enjoyed softball, cheerleading, and Texas Roadhouse - she was a die hard “Roadie,” and she loved her a good cookie!

Cortney was little in stature but strong in might. She had a strong personality and she was a fighter through and through. She was devoted to everything she did. She was caring, giving, and loved deeply. She will always be remembered for her infectious smile and contagious laugh.

Cortney is preceded in death by her mother, Almeda Benavides. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Joshua David Bass; daughter, Sydnee Erin Aquirre; step-daughter, Shelby Bass; step-sons, Zander Bass and Tanner Bass; father, Raymond Franco and wife, Tina Pimentel; sister, Kimberly Clayton and husband, Micheal Clayton; brother, Joe Benavides and wife Cathy Benavides; step-siblings, Stephanie Barros and Lester Barros and wife, Faye Barros and their children, Jackson and Amani; nieces and nephews, Joseph Anthony Benavides, Micheal Clayton, Mia Clayton, Kendall Clayton, Kye Clayton, Kandon Clayton; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and extended family members of The Benavides Family, The Franco Family, and the Mendoza Family.
