Connie Sue Hoffman

September 21, 1948 — August 26, 2018

Connie Sue Hoffman passed from this life on August 26, 2018, at the age of 69.

Connie was born on September 21, 1948 to Marion and Clora Maserang, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Mitchell Hoffman and her brother, Richard Lee. She is survived by her sons, Mickeal Ray Hoffman and James Matthew Hoffman and his fiancé Sarah Gray and one grandson, Jeremiah. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Fowkes, and her brother and his wife, Gary and Romanda Maserang.

Volunteering in the community was a big part of Connie’s life. She was an original member of the Forest Hill Celebration Committee where she served until her death. She enjoyed stuffing Easter Eggs, making jingle bell necklaces, shopping for door prizes, and participating in a wide variety of city activities.

She was Forest Hill Volunteer of the Year in 1999 recognizing the significant service that she rendered to the Forest Hill Community. She was recently honored by the Forest Hill City Council during Women’s History Month for her contributions to her community.

For 38 years, Connie worked as one of the Coordinators of the Forest Hill Action Group, which assists the needy in Forest Hill. She was one of the primary shoppers and was always looking for good deals to provide quality toys for children in need and to stretch the dollars donated by the community. She often said, “Nothing makes you feel needier than getting a low quality toy.”

She worked at the food bank distribution at the FH Senior Citizens Center for years, including delivering to some of the elderly in Forest Hill and surrounding communities.

Anyone that knows Connie knows that she and her sister were involved in many projects together. One was a craft class that they taught at the Forest Hill Senior Citizens Center for over 25 years.

She was also a member of the Forest Hill Historical Preservation Commission. She always enjoyed learning about the history of her family and her community.
