ARLINGTON -- Clois W. Tunnell, 88, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the account name Brooke Hester Hustle at any Wells Fargo Bank or Brookefightsback.org. Clois was born November 14, 1923. He lived a humble country boy's life, growing up in the Cedar Hill area. As a child, his father worked at the Penn Farm, which is located at Joe Pool Lake. That is where his family lived until moving to Kennedale. The family ran a dairy farm that was close to his Grandfather's farm, and that is where he eventually built his own home and raised his small family. Clois attended Kennedale High School until the 10th grade, which was as far as schooling went in Kennedale, and he graduated from Mansfield High School in 1942. After high school, he went to work at the Fort Worth Quartermaster Depot, until joining the Army in 1944, where he served his country until 1946. After returning home, Clois married and went to work to the Rock Island Railroad before he took a position with General Dynamics in 1949, where he worked as a welder's fitter, and worked there for 36 years. After retirement, he enjoyed working on his little farm full time, tending cows, mending fences, and helping his family out in any way he could, because he liked to stay busy. Clois was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Sims Tunnell, his parents, Sid and Lucy Tunnell, two brothers, Rabel Tunnell and J. W. Cooper. Survivors: He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Jan Tunnell of Arlington, granddaughter and her husband, Trisha and Toby Poore of Ft. Worth, granddaughter Michelle Richards of Arlington, and three great-grandchildren, Taylor and Tyler Poore and Braelee Richards. And he will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and his special caregivers, Pati Shields and Richard Acuna.
