Clinton Warren Baccus

Clinton Warren Baccus was born on November 26, 1934, to Retta and Willie Baccus in Haskell, Texas. At the age of 90, on Feb 4, 2025, he was called home to be with his Lord and Savior. 

His childhood was a happy one. He made his own money as the Haskell newspaper boy as well as mowing lawns to support his hobbies and put himself through two years at Texas Tech University. He and his younger brother Kenneth spent lots of time outdoors building go-karts and playing “army.”

He met Brenda, the love of his life, in school and they married on October 30, 1955. They spent over 65 years devoted to one another. Clinton and Brenda spent lots of time traveling together, cruising all over and visiting kids wherever they were stationed; he loved to drive and fast! Clinton always loved sports - playing and watching. Together they rooted for the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, and Mansfield High Tigers at every opportunity, and they were rarely ever apart.

In 1957, Clinton joined the United States Air Force where he began as a radar tech. The Air Force recognized his talent, and sent him to finish his business administration degree at Colorado University at Boulder. He graduated in 1964, and after a few more Air Force technical schools, he worked as a computer programmer and software engineer until his retirement after 20 years of service, with the rank of Captain.

Upon retirement in 1977, Clinton and Brenda moved to Mansfield, where Clinton worked for General Dynamics and then Lockheed Martin as a software engineer until his second retirement in 1999. He continued serving as a deacon in the Benevolence Ministry at Mansfield Church of Christ for many years. He and Brenda spent many years dedicated to their church family in Mansfield, which brought them both joy and purpose.

Clinton was a little reserved, but to those who grew to know him, he often showed a silly sense of humor. He always had a grin and a sparkle in his green eyes for his four grandkids, who called him Pawpaw. He loved playing backyard wiffleball games with them and cheering them on in all their endeavors, athletic or otherwise.

Clinton is survived by his children, Garry (Kim) Baccus of Lubbock, and Gina (Dyrel) Hamrick of Arlington; his grandchildren, Dustin (Emily) Hamrick of Kennedale, Kara (Houston) Hutchinson of Leander, Britni (Zach) Fuller of Hampstead, North Carolina, and Austin (Katie) Baccus of Lubbock; great-grandchildren, Fallon Hamrick, Afton Hutchinson, Ian Fuller, Quinn Hutchinson, Adelyn Fuller, Mazie Hutchinson, and Chisum Baccus; brother Kenneth Baccus, brothers-in-law, Joe Josselet and Ron Josselet, and sister-in-law, Patricia Baccus and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Retta and Willie Baccus, his brothers W. H. and Richard Baccus, and his beloved wife Brenda, whom he is undoubtedly elated to be reunited with again.
