Clayton Howard Jordan, aged 90, passed away on December 1, 2023. He was born April 14, 1933 to Henry Floyd Jordan and Olive Ella Whitehead in Grapevine, Texas. Clayton went on to be a Police Officer for Arlington, Texas, as well as enlisting in the honorable National Guard Reserves. After winning Officer of The Year in 1963, Clayton ended his stint as a Police Officer and went into the Food Service Industry. He was part owner and managed the Webb Food Service, later being bought out by Jason’s Deli.
He married the love of his life, Mavis Lynn Massey, on December 22, 1953. Although his future father-in-law tried to pay him to stay away from his daughter, Clayton persisted and they went on to wed. Not too much later, his father-in-law was quite relieved that Clayton had chosen not to take the money. Clayton was an amazing husband, providing anything Mavis could ever need or want. He absolutely adored her. Clayton and Mavis went on to have two daughters, Vickie and Renee. He was such a devoted and wonderful father. Clayton loved his girls more than anything, and then came along the grandkids. They were his pride and joy. He was an excellent craftsman and woodworker, building anything they could have dreamed of. Including dollhouses, go kart tracks around the property, treehouses, and later on actual houses. His grandkids knew “Pawpaw” could get them out of pretty much any kind of trouble they could find themselves in.
Clayton is preceded in death by his wife Mavis Jordan, father Floyd Jordan, mother Olive Long, brothers Bobby and Donald Jordan, and sister Earline Long.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters Vickie Strong and husband Robert, and Renee Schott and husband David, grandchildren Bryan Strong and wife Angela, Aaron Estep and wife Chelsea, and Heather Olmstead and husband Jerrod, great-grandchildren Ethan Strong, Dominic Estep, Wyatt and Sadie Olmstead, sister Carolyn Edens and husband Weldon, and numerous extended family and friends.
