At the age of 82 our sweet, funny and loving Husband, Daddy, Paps, and Friend to all, entered those pearly gates of Heaven. He is sitting at the feet of his Heavenly Father where he can now see and hear everything so clearly and can sing like the angel he is. There are no words to express how much he is loved and will be missed here on earth.
Visitation: Tuesday, February 10, 6-8pm at Blessings Funeral Home in Mansfield.

Charlie was born May 26, 1932 in Grand Saline, TX. Growing up in rural East Texas he loved to tell tales and stories of his life. He was blessed with an amazing memory. He knew directions to anywhere and loved going to McDonalds for breakfast. He was color blind and extremely ticklish! One of his favorite saying was, “He wasn’t arguing, he was just explaining why he was right!”
In the U.S. Navy Charlie served as a radio operator during the Korean War and he was a Mason. He came to know the Lord at the age of 28 and almost immediately felt called into the ministry. Over the past almost 55 years he served his Lord faithfully as a Baptist pastor, missionary, deacon, Sunday school teacher and mentor to many. Being blessed with a photographic memory he could quote an abundance of scripture and tell you where it was found in the Bible. Many loved to sit with him and listen to his thoughts and beliefs on the inherent word of God. Along with ministering he also built churches across Texas and was a talented custom wood craftsman.
His greatest joys in life came from his faith in Christ, his wife Betty, the love of his life for 59 years, and his children, Sherry Shadwick Cornelius, her husband Ron, Rocky Shadwick, his friend Danny Smith, Greg Shadwick, his wife Tamara. Nothing lit up his face more than his five grandchildren, Tiffany and Logan Cornelius, Rachel Shadwick Martell, her husband Robby, Taylor and Garrett Shadwick, his two great-grandsons, Jacob and Elijah Martell, and one more precious one on the way.
He is affectionately known as Chachi, Uncle Charlie and Charlie B by his many nieces and nephews.
He has one sister, Ruth Shadwick Sanders of Vernon, Texas and was preceded in death by his father and mother, Paul and Gladys Shadwick and two sisters, Billie and Bobbie.
