Charles Robert Roner “Bob,” 82 passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in Mansfield, TX. Bob was born May 30, 1931 in Cottage Grove, Oregon to Charles and Mary (White) Roner. He was married to Sylvia Thiede for 52 years.
Bob joined the U.S. Navy after high school. He traveled all around the world as a pilot. He retired as a Lt. Commander after serving 24 years. After retirement Bob had a commercial fishing boat built that he named “Commander.” He went deep fishing, sometimes taking his kids, which he enjoyed for several years. Bob’s next adventure was building homes that he would live in for a few years and then sell. In 2008, he and his late wife, Sylvia relocated to Mansfield, TX.
Survivors include his son, Michael and fiancé, Misti Lange of Mansfield and daughter and son-in-law, Kitty Ann and Louie V. McCrady of Cottage Grove. Granddaughters, Meghan & Shannon Roner and grandson, Caylan McCrady. And his beloved dog, Dusty.
