Charles Lynn Maxwell, 78, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021.
He was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 7, 1943. Charles graduated from Mansfield High School and attended University of Texas at Arlington before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1964 and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant before leaving the Air Force in 1972. He was married to Martha Hancock Maxwell on August 21, 1978, in Plano, Texas.
During that time he served in the Strategic Air Command and was stationed at: Lakeland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas; Forbes Air Force Base, Topeka, Kansas; Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier City, LA; Utapao Air Force Base, Thailand; and Carswell Air Force Base, Fort Worth, Texas. After serving in the Air Force he had a long career in the temperature control, construction and indoor air quality industries. He worked for Johnson Controls, Inc., The Trane Company, Louisiana State University Medical Center/Shreveport and was Director of Energy Management at the Mesquite Independent School District until he retired in 2016.
During his career he enjoyed memberships in the following Professional Organizations:
American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Dallas Chapter. Life Member. Served as Secretary 89/90 and Treasurer 88/89.
National Association of Energy Engineers – North Texas Chapter. Life Member. Chairman of Scholarship Committee 1990; Secretary 1991; Vice President 1992; and President 1993, and a member of the Board of Directors. Community Advisory Committee of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Program at Eastfield College. Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO), BOMA – Building Owners and Managers Association, and APPA – Association of Physical Plant Administrators. He was also a member at Masonic Lodge – Topeka, Kansas, Worth Commandery No. 19 – Ft. Worth, Texas. Charter Member 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Masonic Lodge, Ft. Worth, Texas Hella Shrine Temple – Dallas, Texas.
Charles is preceded in death my both his parents, Theo Ollie and Charlyne Phebie Maxwell. He is survived by his wife, two children and five grandchildren. Sandy Michelle Killian and her husband, Scott of Greenville, Texas and Christopher Lynn Maxwell and his wife Breanna of Hubert, North Carolina. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Tyler Scott Killian of Terrell, Texas, Dacotah Hunter Killian of College Station, Texas, Emma Grace Killian of Greenville, Texas, Hunter John Maxwell and Lucy Kay Maxwell of Hubert, North Carolina. He is also survived by his brother Gary Maxwell and his wife Jeanette of Burleson, Texas.
The family has chosen to postpone a memorial service until a later time.
