Carrie Mae Harris was born to the late Yang Harris and Queen Dorsey Harris on July 23, 1941, in Dodgeville, MS. After her parents' passing, Carrie went to live with her aunt, Roberta Owens, in Memphis, TN where she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. After graduation, she moved to Elkhart, IN and gave birth to three children, a beautiful daughter, Queen Dorsey of Grand Prairie, TX and two sons Darnell Dorsey and Lynn Dorsey both of Arlington, TX. She also raised another child as her own, Chantel McCaleb Carter of Memphis, TN.

She later moved to Grand Rapids, MI where she met and married Lonnie McCaleb while employed at General Motors, where she worked for 32 years. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church of Grand Rapids, MI and in 1998 she transferred to Arlington, TX with General Motors and retired in 2000. She became a member of the Kingdom Hall and married James Jackson of Arlington, TX.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jenny Mae Curry of Elkhart, IN and Dollie May Taylor of Arlington, TX also preceding her in death are two brothers, Joe Pete Harris and Jimmy Lee Harris, both of Elkhart, IN.

Carrie had a heart of gold and would help anyone and would go out of her way to make sure everyone was OK. She loved bowling and her favorite pastime was being with her family. She leaves behind her three children and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Carrie will be truly missed but her memory will last forever.
