John Boyd Poindexter, 72, passed away December 15, 2018 in Mansfield. Boyd was born to Carl Richard and Janell (Boyd) Poindexter on November 5, 1946 in Dallas.
Boyd attended Sam Houston High School and was involved in Stock Shows in which he had many Grand Champions across the state of Texas. Another monumental moment in high school was when he was introduced to Linda Whisenhunt by her mother at Wyatt’s Grocery Store. That meeting would begin a romance that would span 50 years of love and devotion.
Boyd was a veteran of the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant after 4 years of service to the United States. He later became a successful, self-employed, 20 year business owner, creating Filtration Specialist, Inc. Boyd’s dedication and love extended to attending his grandson Collin’s sporting events, animals and cars.
Boyd is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Janell Poindexter, sibling Tommy Poindexter and Ginger Vaughn.
Boyd is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda, children Christy and Casey Poindexter, grandson Collin Poindexter and siblings L. Sharon Poindexter and Carla J. Bartlett, family dog Coleman and grand-dogs Crockett, Max and Nana.
