Bobby Joe "B.J." Massey, 76, passed away April 24, 2017.Bobby was born to Woodrow Wilson Massey and Ladelle (Reynolds) Massey on February 11, 1941 in Eldorado, Arkansas. Upon completing high school, B.J. enlisted into the United States Marine Corps, completing a three year tour. One of his first jobs after the Marine Corps was at Warner Brothers Studios, where he had the opportunity to meet some early stars before they became stars. He married Vicky Blackshear and had his daughter, Dannella. Later, B.J. moved to Michigan where he assisted in the construction of the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan, installing air conditioning unit as well as the unit that inflated the roof to the Silverdome. In the early 1970’s, he moved to Texas to work with his step father, Lee, in construction.
In 1982, B.J. met Annette Browning and so began a special friendship spanning 26 years.
In 1983, Bobby Joe went to trade schools to learn the Information Technology trade and hone his typing skills. For a one year time frame, from 1983 to 1984, B.J. and Annette opened a small general store in Arkansas.
In 1985, B.J. went to work for SMC Marketing, in Grand Prairie, and enjoyed a satisfying career that lasted 16 years.
Retirement began in 2001 and so his passion for classic cars. Buying and selling classic cars was always an interest for Bobby but retirement allowed for a stronger commitment that allowed an involvement in a love for the rest of his life.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents.
Bobby is survived by his daughter Dannella Duncan-Long (Husband Bryant), grandchildren Dalishia Duncan and Andrew Duncan (Wife Thea), great grandchildren Sabastion, Lillyaunna, Rosaleenna, Lotus and Orchyd Duncan, brother Wayne Murphy and life partner Annette Brown.
