Billy Mack "Papa" Perry

March 16, 1932 — June 26, 2019

Billy Mack Perry, 86, of Mansfield, Texas passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019.

Mack was born in Mansfield, TX on July 15, 1932, the son of Ernie Lewis Perry and Eunetta Ball Perry. He married Charlene Moore on November 17, 1956 in Granbury, Texas. Mack was a chief switchman for Southwestern Bell and retired after 30 years of service. He became co-owner of the Mansfield Scrapyard for several years before settling into contract work for the scrapyard well into his 70’s. Mack clearly valued hard work, but also family, which he would often combine, spending time mowing and weed eating his kids’ yards before attending grandkids’ ball games. Mack had boundless energy and a zest for life. He could often be found playing dominoes or fishing with friends. He enjoyed building relationships and helping others; he had a servant heart and a generosity that knew no bounds. He was a proud member of the Wesley Class at the First Methodist Church in Mansfield.

Survivors include four daughters: Cheryl Sue McClendon and husband Mike, Belinda Kay Hughes and husband Dean, Lisa Gail Thompson and husband David, and Lori Lynn Ogden and husband Jeff; nine grandchildren: Katye Harrell, Ryan McClendon, Christopher Hughes, Stephanie Segelstrom, Michael Reeves, Bradley Lindsey, Perry Lindsey, Kristen Johnson, Cole Ogden; 15 great grandchildren, one sister Jane Adeline Dalton, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years Charlene, his brother L.C. “Buzz” Perry, and his sister June Watson.
