Billie Jean Pope McClung, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away January 24, 2017.
Billie was born February 21, 1949 in Fort Worth, Texas to Robert and Louise Pope. She was raised in Watsonville, Texas with her sister Linda Huckabee and brother’s Tony and Lynn Pope. In 1965, Billie met and married Leon McClung. Billie and Leon raised 3 daughters.
After a courageous battle with diabetes, kidney and heart disease, Billie passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was a loving and caring soul that treasured moments with family and friends. She also enjoyed meeting complete strangers and giving them her undivided attention. She always had a smile and a way of making everyone feel special. She shared her love and grace with everyone she knew.
Her hobbies were reading, watching movies and TV shows. Billie also enjoyed traveling to visit friends with Leon. Billie’s birthstone was amethyst and she loved anything purple.
Billie attended First Missionary Baptist Church of Duncanville for over 43 years , while a member, Billie served the Lord in many ways… as a camp counselor, singing in the choir, performing solos, mailing out bulletins to church shut-ins and former members, and she also helped clean the church.
Billie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Leon McClung and 3 daughters, Deborah Cathey of Arlington, TX, Melinda Wheat and husband David Wheat of Arlington, TX, Christy Moore and husband Bobby Moore of Mansfield, TX, 6 granddaughters and 1 grandson. Billie has many extended family, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends and family that she adored. Billie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Robert and Louise Pope, brother Tony Pope and Sister Linda Huckabee.
